Environment Day: Driving Change Through Purpose and Impact
Each year on Environment Day, we pause to reflect on the role our business plays in creating a healthier, fairer, and more sustainable world. Our 2025 Sustainability Impact Report reaffirms our commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs)—a shared blueprint for peace, prosperity, and planet. This year, we proudly align with 16 out of the 17 UN Goals, working across environmental, social, and economic dimensions to make measurable impact.
While we are not currently aligned with Goal 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions), our dedication to the remaining 16 goals illustrates our mission to build a better world through transparency, innovation, and responsibility. Here’s how our efforts are shaping progress across the goals.
Goal 1: No Poverty
We contribute to poverty reduction by combining practical and financial support for charitable causes. This includes product and packaging donations, as well as financial contributions to charities helping those in need. Every act, from supplying essentials to offering hygienic products, reflects our belief in dignity for all.
Goal 2: Zero Hunger
We are committed to supporting sustainable agriculture and local farming. By replacing an EU-sourced raw material with one grown in the UK, we’ve strengthened local supply chains, reduced transport emissions, and championed food sovereignty.
Goal 3: Good Health and Well-Being
Health and hygiene are central to our ethos. Many of our products are Allergy UK certified, making them suitable for allergy sufferers. We also support our team’s well-being with Simply Health benefits, offering cover for both physical and mental health needs.
Goal 4: Quality Education
We are proud to invest in educational partnerships that provide university students with hands on experience. Our collaborations with Hull University and York University bring real world business into academic life, encouraging the next generation of sustainability leaders.
Goal 5: Gender Equality
Our workplace is a space of equality and opportunity. We’ve achieved pay equality across all roles, and 50% of senior management positions are held by women. Our gender balanced workforce (nearly 50/50) shows that diversity is more than a goal, it’s a standard.
Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation
As a manufacturer of cleaning products, we’re passionate about cleanliness in more ways than one. In 2024, we donated over 2,000 soap bars to organisations such as Food Banks, Women’s Aid, and FareShare, recognising that sanitation is a basic human right.
We’ve also extended this impact through carbon offsetting. Our Nyagatare Safe Water Project in Rwanda supports clean water access by funding water well infrastructure in under resourced communities. It’s a continuation of our mission to make sanitation accessible to all.
Goal 7: Affordable and Clean Energy
We operate with energy efficiency at our core. Our facility runs on green solar energy, we have eliminated gas usage on-site, and we use LED lighting in our production warehouse to reduce energy consumption and emissions.
Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth
Our commitment to workforce development is reflected in our apprenticeship schemes. For example, Grace, our Office Admin Apprentice, is gaining hands on skills and career development support as part of our long term investment in future talent.
Goal 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure
We never stop improving. Through continuous R&D investment, we’re innovating our product and packaging lines to make them more efficient, sustainable, and user-friendly. Whether it’s packaging redesign or formula enhancements, we put innovation to work for sustainability.
Goal 10: Reduced Inequalities
We are working to close the inequality gap by supporting underprivileged communities through direct charity support and donations. This includes accessible hygiene essentials and advocacy for inclusive practices throughout our operations.
Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities
Over 50% of our team commute using green transport options, including walking, cycling, and electric vehicles. We’ve also installed EV charging stations on site for both staff and visitors, supporting cleaner air and urban sustainability.
Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production
Sustainable production is fundamental to our operations. We’ve implemented a Closed Loop system, relaundering over 17,000 containers to date. Additionally, our bottles and containers are made using 100% post-consumer recycled (PCR) content, reducing reliance on virgin plastics.
Goal 13: Climate Action
We are actively cutting emissions to fight climate change. Compared to last year, we’ve reduced CO₂e emissions per product by 9% and water-related emissions by 20%. These figures represent meaningful progress and accountability in our journey toward net zero.
Goal 14: Life Below Water
Our cleaning products are formulated to be non-harmful to aquatic life, safeguarding the ecosystems in rivers, lakes, and oceans. By prioritising biodegradable ingredients and responsible manufacturing, we reduce our waterway footprint.
Goal 15: Life on Land
We are proud silver members of the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, supporting conservation of local habitats and biodiversity. Our products are environmentally safe and sustainably made, ensuring minimal harm to land ecosystems.
Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals
Progress is better together. We’re a committed member of Cruelty Free International, advocating for an end to animal testing. We also partner with fellow B Corp companies to amplify shared sustainability goals and ethical business practices.
Looking Ahead
Our 2025 Sustainability Impact Report highlights not only what we’ve achieved, but where we aim to grow. The work is far from over, and our vision remains clear: to be a business that drives change, through everyday decisions, industry leadership, and a relentless focus on impact.
As we mark Environment Day, we celebrate progress, but more importantly, we renew our promise to the planet and people. You can read our latest Sustainability & Impact report here.
