Pack of 4 compostable sponge scourers made from sustainably sourced wood pulp cellulose with a loofah scrubby scourer.
Once well used, cut up the sponge (this speeds up composting) and place in home compost bin. If you don’t compost, you can pop these in your usual household waste and be smug in the knowledge you haven’t generated plastic waste by switching to Seep.

Is the sponge FSC certified?
The wood and paper products in our range are always FSC/PEFC-certified, meaning that the wood is harvested from forests that are responsibly managed (and not illegally logged). In this case, the cellulose part of our sponge, which is made from wood pulp, comes from FSC/PEFC certified sources.
How do I compost them?
Once well used, cut up the sponge (this speeds up composting) and place in home compost bin. If you don’t compost, you can pop these in your kitchen or garden waste if your council collect it and cut it up first. Some people even cut them up and add them to the bottom of their plant pots to retain the moisture.
What is loofah?
Loofah is a species of tropical and subtropical vines in the cucumber family, most commonly grown in India, China and Vietnam. The fully developed fruit is dried and used in bathrooms and kitchens as a natural scrubbing tool
What is cellulose?
Cellulose is basically biodegradable plant fibre, in our case it’s made from trees. Obviously we need to do this process the right way, so ALL of our suppliers and material comes from either FSC or PEFC managed forests. This way, we know that the materials are sustainable, and the people involved in the process are not exploited.
My sponges are too stiff
The sponge scourers need to be dried out before they can be packaged and dispatched out to customers. Rinse under water and give them a little massage before use to soften up, the sponges will become more soft upon continued use with washing up liquid. They will also soften up with usage so the longer you use it for, the softer and more malleable it gets. You can speed this up by popping it into the washing machine or dishwasher a few times. Alternatively try our larger cellulose sponges which have no scourer or we will be launching some smaller ones in a few months’ time.
The loofah is not scrubby enough
Loofah fibres are naturally coarse and have good scrubbing power, yet gentle enough for for non-scratch pans. If you require more heavy duty cleaning, we suggest our copper scourers or washing up brush
Can you use the loofah and sponge separately?
Yes! Once well used, the loofah fibres will start to break down and the cellulose sponge can continue to be used separately. We also have a larger, pack of 2 cellulose pop up sponges (without the scourer part.)
Can I wash the sponge?
Yes – you can freshen them up in the dishwasher or washing machine at 30/40 degrees
Is the sponge OK for delicate surfaces?
Yes – because the sponge and scourer material are made of natural fibres, it is suitable for use on non-stick surfaces and delicate surfaces like porcelain, induction hobs and stainless steel. If you are in any doubt, we advise testing on a very small area before use.
