Sustainability at Bio-D: More Than What’s in the Bottle
When people think of Bio-D, they often think of our ethically sourced, eco-friendly cleaning products and with good reason. For over three decades, we’ve been crafting high-performance, non-toxic household cleaners that are kind to the environment and safe for every home. But the truth is, our commitment to sustainability runs much deeper than what’s inside the bottle.
At Bio-D, sustainability isn’t just a feature of our products, it’s a value that drives every decision we make as a company. From the way we power our manufacturing processes to how our team members get to work each day, we’re constantly striving to reduce our environmental impact, inspire positive change, and lead by example.
In this blog post, we’re shining a light on what sustainability looks like behind the scenes at Bio-D, and how it’s built into the very culture of how, and where, we work.
Our People: Living the Values of Bio-D
Our team is the beating heart of Bio-D, and we’re proud to say that sustainability isn’t just something we talk about, it’s something we live every day.
From right to left in the photo above: Rob, Jack, Steve, Mark, Marcus, Jay, and Graham are just a few of the dedicated team members who help keep Bio-D running smoothly. Whether it’s overseeing production, managing logistics, or keeping our facilities safe and clean, each member of our team plays a crucial role in bringing sustainable cleaning to homes across the UK and EU and they do it with pride.
But our team’s contribution to sustainability goes well beyond their daily roles. We actively support and encourage every member of staff to make greener choices, both in and out of the workplace. One way we do this is through our participation in the Cycle to Work scheme.
Encouraging a Greener Commute with Cycle to Work
The Cycle to Work scheme is a government-backed initiative that enables employees to purchase bikes and cycling accessories tax-free. It’s a fantastic way to make commuting more affordable and sustainable. At Bio-D, we’re proud to offer this benefit to all of our staff, helping to remove barriers and encourage cycling as a viable mode of transport.
Cycling to work offers a host of environmental and personal benefits:
By making cycling accessible and attractive, we’re not only supporting individual health, we’re investing in a healthier planet.
Embedding Sustainability Into Our Workspace
Supporting bike commuting is just one of many ways we weave sustainability into the fabric of our workplace. At our Hull based headquarters, we’ve taken deliberate steps to ensure our operations are as planet-friendly as possible:
We’re always looking for new ways to do better, because we believe that sustainability is a journey, not a destination.
Beyond the Factory Walls: A Culture of Responsibility
Sustainability at Bio-D isn’t confined to our products or even our premises. We’re building a culture of responsibility that extends to how we treat each other, our community, and the wider world.
Here are just a few ways our company culture reflects this:
It’s not just about being green—it’s about doing good, every day, for people and the planet.
Walking the Talk: Certified and Recognised
Our cultural commitment to sustainability hasn’t gone unnoticed. We’re proud to be:
These recognitions reflect more than just the contents of our bottles, they speak to who we are as a company and a community.
What’s Next?
We’re always looking ahead at Bio-D. Whether it’s supporting more employees to cycle to work, investing in solar energy for our site, or finding new ways to reuse and refill packaging, our journey is ongoing—and we want others to come along for the ride.
Because when sustainability becomes part of your culture, your community, and your commute, real change happens.
