We are delighted to announce we have secured B Corp status and are now one of only 4,615 companies around the world that meet the ‘high standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency’ required.
Only one in three businesses that apply are successful, and only around 1,000 UK businesses have been awarded B Corp status to date.
To say we’re over the moon is an understatement.
So, what does B Corp mean?
Standing for ‘Beneficial Corporation’ the B Corp accreditation recognises our prioritisation of sustainability in all parts of Bio-D’s business, including ingredients, packaging, accountability, workforce and more.
The B Corp movement is about changing the rules of the game. This means helping create a different kind of global economy to make business a force for good.
Businesses are awarded a B Corp score based on different aspects of their business. We were assessed on the positive impact we have on our employees, suppliers, community and the environment.
How did Bio-D achieve B Corp status?
We started our process back in 2019, and it’s been a lot of data gathering and form filling to get to this stage.
There are five main areas of the business that are analysed as part of the B Corp assessment process. Each category is awarded a score, and the five scores are added together. If it is over 80 then you are awarded B Corp status.
The average score for businesses that complete the assessment is currently at 50.9 and we achieved a score of 80.2.
Since March is B Corp month, we’ll be bringing you a lot more information about what it means to be B Corp, a detailed look at our journey to date, and shouting about some of the other amazing B Corp companies that you can buy from.
