You’ve gotta be in it to win it as they say, and when the ‘prize’ is a cleaner, greener planet you can bet we’re fully invested. Bio-D is now officially signed up in the Race to Zero, a UN backed global campaign encouraging everyone from companies to educational institutions to whole cities to play their part in halving global emissions by 2030.
We’re teaming up with one of our lovely stockists, Ethical Superstore, to spread the word about Race to Zero and keep you up to date on how we’re doing our bit to maintain momentum towards net zero and being as sustainable as possible. We want to make 2021 the most impactful year for climate action. Come and join us!
What’s Race to Zero all about?
Race to Zero is a global campaign to rally leadership and support from businesses, cities, regions and investors for a healthy, resilient, zero carbon recovery that prevents future threats, creates decent jobs, and unlocks inclusive, sustainable growth.
The objective is to build momentum around the shift to a decarbonised economy ahead of COP26, where governments must strengthen their contributions to the Paris Agreement. This will send governments a resounding signal that business, cities, regions and investors are united in meeting the Paris goals and creating a more inclusive and resilient economy.
At Bio-D, we spend a lot of time considering how we can minimise our impact on as a company and being part of the Race to Zero campaign has made us work even harder to create a company which our team and customers can be proud to be a part of.
So, what are we doing at Bio-D?
Eradicating emissions
Every year, we create our Bio-D Sustainability Report, and part of our 2021 commitment was to offset scope 1 and 2 emissions. We’re delighted that through our partnership with ioffset to protect the primary Malagasy forest from further deforestation and degradation in Madagascar, we’ve already achieved this very important goal.
But, we’re not stopping there.
Homegrown energy
This year Bio-D began measuring the businesses carbon footprint. We have measured our carbon footprint for 2019 and 2020 now, and as part of that we’ve put plans into motion to move to in house renewable energy where possible and reduce emissions in other areas of our business. Make sure you keep your eyes on our social channels for behind-the-scenes content and the progress we’re making.
If you have a business, we want to urge you to become accountable and get involved with tackling climate change. You can sign up to the Race to Zero campaign here or add your name to the SME Climate Commitment here. There are various ways that you can join Race to Zero and for UK SME companies you join through the SME hub. Part of our Bio-D business practice is to be as transparent as possible, a force for good if you will. So if you want to read our latest Sustainability Report 2021 then please go right ahead.
We look forward to creating a cleaner future for the planet with you.
