A Decade of the B Corp Movement in the UK
2025 marks a major milestone,10 years of B Corps in the UK.
In just one decade, the movement has expanded from a small cohort of purpose-led businesses to a globally recognised community of over 8,500 certified companies, including around 2,000 in the UK alone. These are organisations that meet some of the highest verified standards of social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency.
The B Corp Certification challenges businesses to prove that they are living their value, not only in what they say, but in how they operate. From supply chain transparency and worker wellbeing to environmental responsibility and community engagement, B Corps commit to putting people, planet and purpose at the core of their decision-making.
It’s a movement we at Bio-D are proud to be part of.
Celebrating 10 Years Together
To celebrate the anniversary, B Corps across the UK held events that brought together local businesses, changemakers and mission-driven teams. Here in Yorkshire and the Humber, the B Local community gathered in Leeds for a day that was equal parts inspiring, creative and community-building.
Our Sales & Marketing team, Nikki, Charlotte and Hannah, headed to the event, where we had the chance to proudly display a selection of our Bio-D cleaning and laundry products alongside fellow B Corps. Meeting other businesses who share our passion for responsible business is always energising, and this event delivered that in spades.
Hosted at Northern Monk, a newly accredited B Corp, the afternoon combined insightful discussions with hands-on, imaginative activities. We played games by fellow B Corp Big Potato Games, enjoyed slices from Pizza Pilgrims, and took part in the movement-wide invitation to Take10 — a moment to pause, connect and reflect with others in the room.
These gatherings remind us that purposeful business is not only about meeting standards but also about nurturing relationships that help build resilience, creativity and long-term impact. Events like this demonstrate that change happens faster when people come together with shared intent and a willingness to learn from one another.
Lego Serious Play & Fireside Chats: Imagining the Next 10 Years

One of the most engaging parts of the day was the Lego Serious Play session, where B Corps worked together to imagine what the movement could achieve in the next decade. This creative exercise encouraged attendees to build their vision for a future where responsible business becomes the norm, not the exception.
Alongside this, the fireside chats provided deeper insight into the new and upcoming B Corp standards, exploring what the next iteration of certification could mean for businesses of all shapes and sizes. The conversations were insightful, honest and full of optimism, a reminder that the B Corp community thrives on shared learning and collective ambition.
As one of our team members, Hannah, said:
“Being surrounded by so many purpose-led businesses reminded us why the B Corp movement matters. It’s not just a certification, it’s a community, and a commitment to do better every day.”
Our B Corp Journey: From Certification to Continuous Improvement
Bio-D has proudly held B Corp Certification for three years, and in June we achieved a 30% score increase at recertification, a reflection of our continued efforts to improve how we support people, protect the planet and embed purpose across our business.
The B Impact Assessment challenges us to grow, evolve and rethink what responsible business looks like. From reducing our carbon footprint to ensuring ethical sourcing and supporting our team’s wellbeing, every area of the assessment offers opportunities to push ourselves further.
The anniversary celebrations gave us the chance to reflect on how far we’ve come, but also to look ahead.
As we continue this journey, we are reminded that progress is rarely linear. Some changes take time, others require innovation, and many demand collaboration. What matters most is the willingness to keep moving forward, even when the next step isn’t always obvious. This mindset has shaped how we operate at Bio-D and will remain central to our future ambitions.
Our Pledge for the Next Decade
During the Leeds event, we made our pledge for the next 10 years:
to continue embedding B Corp values within our team the wider community.
This means continuing to:
As the B Corp movement evolves, so will we.
A Huge Thank You to Our Community
A heartfelt thank you goes to Catherine and Charlotte, the Yorkshire & Humber B Local co-chairs, for curating such a brilliant and inspiring event. Their dedication to growing the regional B Corp community has helped create a space where businesses can learn, share and drive meaningful impact together.
Here’s to the last 10 years of B Corps in the UK and to the next decade of using business as a force for good.
We’re excited to see how the movement will continue to grow, adapt and influence the wider business landscape. With more organisations recognising the value of balancing profit and purpose, the next decade offers enormous potential for collective change. Bio-D is committed to playing its part, championing responsible practices and supporting a healthier, fairer and more sustainable future for all.
